Hi everyone,
I'm really excited about Fred Amir's book Rapid Recovery from Back and Neck pain. Thanks to this site for the recommendation!
I've only had it for a week and I'm feeling a lot of improvement.
Since there are no TMS docs in Canada I'm trying to do this on my own. My story is a lot like everyone else's, chronic sciatica, hip pain, back and neck pain for 10 years.
Since reading 2 of Sarno's books 2 months ago and journaling faithfully I've noticed some improvements, but I was really getting tired of all the negative digging into my past and felt I'd covered everything.(enough is enough)
Fred Amir's book is very uplifting and positive. I am following his 9 step plan and I truly feel I'm finally getting somewhere. I find the imagery and self talk very helpful. I can now mentally block pain and feel the results immediately. I even went running this week which is something I thought I'd never do, fearing the damage it might cause my joints.
I'm not cured yet, aften ten years of pain I think it will take a while to get rid of all the conditioning, but I feel very positive that I will be posting my success story eventually.
For those of you getting down from all the negative journaling and looking for a new aproach I would highly recommend it too. It's still
Sarno theory but a concrete, very positive plan to get rid of the pain and start enjoying life.

I found Fred Amir's book very helpful.

Some other comments have been that his book take over where Dr.Sarno's leaves off. Dr. Sarno covers the treatment but in a general way. I found Fred's idea of goal setting critical to my recovery.

Check out the section on short-term and long-term goals.

I believe that Dr. Sarno indicates that all sciatica pain is TMS. I certainly think so. Mine went away and never came back. While I had it, I could only walk a few steps at a time.

Keep up the good work. You can do it.

Allan
