Posted - 12/06/2004 : 12:37:22 I was just wondering about a problem I have been having on an almost daily basis for 3 years. I am 26 and each night when I go to bed, usually after about an hour or so, I wake up in absolute panic and have the sensation that I am choking or just swallowed something too big. I think it is a panic attack, but I was wondering if this is a type of TMS equivalent. It only happens at night and almost every night. I do not ever have panic attacks during the day. |

Posted - 12/06/2004 : 13:10:50 I've had something that feels like that. Only happens to me occasionally though. i never connected it to anxiety but interestingly I used to have panic attacks and have never got rid of the anxiety entirely (I now have what they call generalized anxiety I think + specific phobias such as flying, throwing up etc).
When it happens to me I wake up literally as I leap out of bed in utter panic with my heart pounding and the feeling that I am really choking and that I'm surfacing from underwater to take my first breath in ages.
TMS related I am sure.
