Sorry if this has been covered here before. Do any of the women notice that your any of your TMS symptoms try to make a comeback as a part of PMS? I'm noticing that if I ever have issues with my piriformis or shoulder now it seems to be right before my period. It's almost as if I'm somehow more sensitive to little aches and pains then.

Perhaps my period just makes me angry Anyway, I've found that if I just chalk it up to that and ignore things they go away quickly. But the pattern is interesting.

My aches and pains all started around the time I started peri menopause with the biggest problem being my lower back. Before that I never knew what pain was. Then about 2 yrs ago my periods stopped and the pain was gone .

Out of the blue I had a period 2 months ago and the pain came back big time.

It is a known fact that fluctuations in hormones can cause problems in women. Menstrual cramps, low back pain, dizziness, bloatedness are all associated with periods and hormonal changes so maybe there is a link.

And don't forget that lack of estrogen is directly related to osteoporosis and osteoporosis is definitely not TMS.

I used to notice a sort-of monthly cycle to my chronic fatigue - but then it did a jump by 2 weeks. (I'm sure now my chronic fatigue was TMS but it got better long before I'd heard of TMS.)

I think this could fall under the section on "Pavlovian conditioning" in "The Mindbody Prescription". Or perhaps, as you say, our periods make us angry!

Thanks Hilary. But I'm not thinking specifically about PMS symptoms but rather feeling the aches and pains that seem to have bothered me in the past as a result of my cycle. My piriformis rarely bothers me now. But I find that when I do have some kind of twinge or ache it is often right before my cycle starts. And then it goes away. It doesn't bother me much, I just have this feeling that somehow my hormones affect my perception of aches and pains.
