Posted - 02/28/2008 : 20:23:22 I would love to hear from anyone out there who has had success or anyone who has insight into my question. I have read Dr. Sarno's, "The Divided Mind," I have thought of unconscious emotions and have actually dug up some disturbing ones. I seem to be on the right track of actually performing the treatment techniques but I don't see any change in symptoms. It's hard to have faith here, what should I do next? I know doubting TMS is part of the syndrome but when one performs the treatment and doesn't see any change in consistent symptoms whatsoever it's hard to keep faith. My symptoms are not intermittent, they are 100% consistent 100% of the day. They are equivalents...dry mouth, dry eyes, dry skin, joint pain, arm numbness. Please help. |

Also guys,
Does anyone know of good books beside Sarno's for treating TMS? Does anyone know of good websites?
Thanks everyone.
I've been reading Fred Amir's 'Rapid Recovery from Back and Neck Pain' and I think it has been helpful. http://www.amazon.com/Rapid-Recovery-Back-Neck-Pain/dp/0966982614/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1204311371&sr=8-1
Some folks swear by Scott Brady's book, but I haven't read it yet. It puts a more Christian spin on Sarno's theories. I'm not religious, but will probably read it anyway. http://www.amazon.com/Pain-Free-Life-Chronic-Pain-Without/dp/0446577618/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1204311563&sr=1-1 |

Posted - 02/29/2008 : 11:18:56 Thanks guys, and dave I have been trying the treatment for 2 weeks, I am an impatient person. I would expect to see just the smallest bit of improvement from 2 weeks, my symptoms have stayed the same if not gotten worse.
Also is it normal for a TMS patient to have intermittent symptoms or consistent ones? Mine are solid and consistent, there is not one second of the day that they let up at all, it really annoys me. |

Posted - 02/29/2008 : 08:34:54 Hi John,
I'm new around here. In fact this is my first post. I've been working this program just under two months and I have seen slow, but significant improvement. My overall health has improved dramatically.
I can empathize with your feelings, because I have had my doubts too.
My only suggestions would be - 1) Don't give up. Recommit yourself to this treatment everyday. 2) Ignore the pain/discomfort or illness. Find that place in your mind where you don't notice the illness. Find it and stays there as much as you can.
I wish only the best for you in your journey and your struggles! Good luck! |

Posted - 02/29/2008 : 08:30:15 You seem to be quite impatient. How long has it been since you started the treatment techniques?
Monitoring your progress closely and getting frustrated with lack of results is a sure way to derail the treatment process. You need to take a long-term view. |

Posted - 02/29/2008 : 08:17:55 Hy John.I already wrote to you.
First did you rule out every serious desise, did your doctor ruled out everything. If you were at your doctor and he couldnt find anything, then you must submit to TMS concept totaly.I know its hard to move on when there is no progress, because i was in the same situation like you.But only when you stop thinking about your symptoms all the time and how much will you need to get better, you will se some improvement.
P.S. do you drink enough water, and did you checked your blood to see sugar level in it.( i hope this is the word for what i mean) |
