A person I know got me to look at this website. I have neck pain, shoulder pain, and sometimes back pain. I sit in front of the computer alot, but I realized my pain heightened when my anxiety heightened.

I've been through a divorce 6 years ago, have a child and remarried a couple of years ago. We have been up and down with the ex for the past 6 years, have dealt with the death of a parent, grandparent, and a close friend. Have been through alot of financial and emotionally trying times. My dr. says my problems are my muscles, a chiropractor has helped, but I'm still not so sure. Sometimes my health anxiety gets the best of me. I have had no testing done and am on anxiety meds, which I think has helped.

I would really like for someone to explain TMS to me if possible and give me some areas to research this more.

Thanks for your help in advance

Forgot to mention--ignore Barbara Walters' comment at the end. Most back pain IS emotional and stretching is NOT going to "do the trick."
This clip had been posted on another site and the poster did us the favor of editing her out. LOL
Really. John Stossel's report sums it all up.

PITN: THANK YOU for posting the clip. I had forgotten how wonderful this was. I just love hearing Dr. Sarno speak with such conviction. And he was right about my herniated disc. Not the cause of my pain!
Everyone needs to watch this clip!!!
Thanks.

Please get one of Dr. Sarno's fine book and get reading. I would recommend The Divided Mind as it's his latest. Mindbody Prescription equally as good. Complete explanations and patient cases are in all his books.
It all makes sense. His program does work. I am 100% healed.
The situations you describe are all stressful, thus could easily be causing you mental, and thus physical, pain. I can certainly relate to your post-divorce less-than-pleasant times dealing with an ex due to child in common, as I went through that too.
Good for you that you notice the pain increases when anxiety does. That is a clear sign of a mind/body connection for you!
Best wishes on the road to healing,
-Lori
