Posted - 02/14/2008 : 05:27:13 thank you for your reply to my first thread. I can't wait to see Dr. Schubiner. Have you met him? I feel fortunate there is someone in my "backyard" that works with TMS. There are not many of them from what I have researched. I read your profile. I hope you do persue TMS in your future practice. Having a Dr. who has "been there" would surely be an asset. Even though I have had 3 diferent Dr's. tell me this is not MS I go through peroid of doubt. I had a brain MRI after an episode of tinnitis last year. When all the inlaw and IRS and sons financial woes started. The ENT neurologist said " good news" you don't have MS. The MRI showed a few scattered non specific white foci. He and 2 other docs told me they were not in the right area or the right shape to be MS. That if we did MRI's on a control group, we would see these same characteristics. It's called life. Many things in our past can produce these. A normal part of aging. From your experience so far have you seen this? After the neurologist told me this the tinnitis went away. Also many have told me that my s&s are not typical of MS. That it isn't so random. ie: doesn't follow a dermatome so well. And is usually one side of the body, or lower vs upper half. And that after 4-6 weeks usually go away with an exacerbation of MS. My numbness started in left ring and pinkie finger. Then as anxietty increased, both pinkie toes and lateral heels. Then finger symptoms went away. Sciatica in left hip thigh and buttock remained as well as toe numbness have remained, 8 months now. Also the numbness in toes is only there when standing. Goes away with lying down. Most have told me MS would be there regardless of position. What do you think? Also cervical MRI clear. No plague. Would it show up here? I really don't want a LP. First afraid of the results, and secondly, really don't want anymre invasion of spine after three ESI's. Can Dr. Schubiner make a dx of TMS without any further invasive testing? Good look with your future education, you are almost there You will make an excellent physician in TMS. As a nurse I feel we could use some more Doc's that treat the mind as well as the body.
