Yesterday I started a daily diary, as Dr.Sarno suggests.
Writing was not a problem, but I became so emotional, cried as I used to every single day sometime ago..I am always trying to ignore the thoughts about what happened to me, because I knew I will end up crying and feeling bad after that (I cried every single day during many years...). And the diary thing didn't bring any release, red eyes and headache yesterday, and stiffness in my neck and shoulders this morning.
I am afraid to continue..............I don't need pain...

Try to remember that crying is a powerful healing activity. Welcome your tears and realize that they are healing you.

Julia,

It may also help to access professional support if the feelings are too heavy for you to deal with on your own. Is there a therapist that you trust? The pathway (www.thepathway.org) is another option to recieve the type of support that may be helpful in working through these feelings.

Wishing you the best,

John

Thanks Lori.
I will follow your suggestions. I'll try to be positive this time.
I hope it works, I want to believe. You know, in my mind I was writing this diary every single day, for last 3 years. One bright day, I broke up physically this time, since than almost a year, I try to escape from all my sad thoughts and grieving, ignore any stress. Now, I have to go back, hopefully writing will work better for me.

One other thing I just thought of.
If you find yourself stuck in a certain feeling (sadness, anger, etc.), try to move to "I am ready to heal this hurt" and see if you feel a shift in your body.
I always try to end any "emotional housecleaning" on a positive note, e.g., I will not allow this to happen to me again, it was a learning experience, I have learned to trust my instincts, I am a more mature person today, etc.

Julia, it is vital to work through the feelings so they get released. Moving past them is key.
I avoided certain topics on my road to recovery and finally realized I HAD to write about them in order to be free. Wasn't easy, but I'm glad I did it and have freedom from emotional and physical pain.
I suggest you persevere. It is your own personal therapy and healing. If there was a particular event, you may need to write about it several times to release all that gets loosened each time.
Don't give up and let your brain win to keep you distracted from the pain.
Best wishes.
-Lori
