Posted - 01/16/2008 : 11:18:14 Is anyone familiar with Holosync? It is a CD listened to with headphones that help you to relax and meditate. I began this daily about a month ago (to help me get more in touch with my emotional issues) and I started having headaches which have developed into a stiff neck and back. Turning my head is painful. I really researched this before beginning to use the program, and the reviews were excellent. I phoned support staff about my symptoms and they said that this is common and that has your system sometimes has to adjust the deeper brain frequencies (alpha, theta) and that I should get past this soon. Now I'm not sure what to do. I had used this program several years ago with no problem, (very relaxing/ peaceful) and I'm confused this is happening now.
One recent development in my life is that I've decided to take some time off from work to really focus on journaling, meditation, and self-care. I'm wondering if my TMS gremlin is threatened by this and is throwing major distractions at me.
I would like to continue with Holosync but there's also a worry that it is "harming" me. If anyone is familiar with this, I would really appreciate your feedback-or any feedback at all!
Thanks in advance

Posted - 01/17/2008 : 19:29:25 Thanks, Wavy Soul and elsfive. Now I'm really convinced that my work leave of absence is stirring things up for me, and that Holosync is just too activating for me right now- which translates into TMS symptoms. Maybe when I'm further along in my progress I'll go back to it. BTW, elsfive, I have been meditating with it while lying down.
Peace-

Posted - 01/17/2008 : 00:07:23 Gotta say that when I tried Holosync years ago it gave me a migraine. It was so long ago I was using cassette tapes (remember those?). I called and they tried to tell me it was just a "healing crisis." But I felt it was a bit like when I go to buy new shoes and they say it's okay if they are tight.
Now I am thinking of trying Holosync again, since I am a different person, and another friend is enjoying it.

Love is the answer, whatever the question |

Posted - 01/16/2008 : 20:58:04 I have also tried Holosync off and on for the past few of years. I too would guess that your pain is your TMS acting up. Are you listening to the CDs sitting up or lying down? I have not had any pain associated with Holosync, but I do carry a lot of tension in my shoulders and neck. I know the recommendation is to listen sitting up, but I find it more effective/relaxing to listen lying down. |

thank you so much for your comments. I seem to remember something like this happening (TMS episode) when I took off time years ago. Since I am taking time off specifically to do the TMS work, it makes sense that there could be major rebellion going on in my unconscious. I think that for now I'll hold off on the Holosync, and just focus on being present/mindful.

Posted - 01/16/2008 : 13:32:18 TMS is sneaky and one must be careful not to fall into common traps.
When you become susceptible to the belief that symptoms have a "real" cause other than being psychogenic, the TMS process seizes the opportunity to nurture that belief.
Also keep in mind that psychological triggers may not be evident. Often it's the things you don't pay attention to, the things that aren't consciously bothering you, that are suppressed and turn into symptoms. Seems to me that taking time off work is capable of being such a trigger, on various levels that you may not fully realize. |

Posted - 01/16/2008 : 13:19:50 I would guess that it's TMS rearing its head, but it's hard to say. If you're really worried you could get checked out, but I would suspect the gremlin strongly if you are taking time and doing work to face emotions.
-- It's not 100% belief that's required, but 100% commitment. |

Posted - 01/16/2008 : 12:37:12 I can't offer a reason for this, but I certainly can commiserate. I have tried insight meditation several times for my tension issues, but have quit because sometimes I would achieve relaxation for a bit, but then get down to a level in which my body feels stiff as a board, and it feels uncomfortable. I'm completely into the meditation and not thinking of anything, but I feel like I'm completely tense, whereas I wasn't tense before the meditation. Very weird. |
