I know TMS can develop anywhere. I injured my right middle toe real bad 2 yrs. ago. 6 months later my right pinky toe started becoming non-touchable. Then the left pinky toe started in with the same thing. The injured middle toe recovered somewhat. (I was told that toes can take a long time...but 2 years). Then I put two & two together and here I am. Has ANYBODY experienced anything like this one? I would love to know.
Seeing Sarno next week and wondering if I still need to go now that I am sure this is TMS. Any comments??

Thank you all for responding about "TMS toes". Sounds so funny , unfortunitly it is not. Well I tried going on the treadmill without putting protective moleskin on my pinky toes and walked my usual 30 minutes. I was very positive that I could do this without aggravating them but it did set me back a bit. I thought since 3 nights passed and I was starting to be able to have my toes touch the mattress with out that "bothering" feeling that it was time to move to the next step.I am kinda bummed that I aggravated them again(only one side though). I will let them calm down and try again. I am seeing Sarno next week so that should hopefully help! Suggestions always appreciated.

Hi Holly.
During my "main act" the middle toes on my left foot, and the pinky toe on my right foot were both very painful.Sometimes the sciatica would depart for a minute, yet the feeling of broken glass and sharp pain would remain.Since TMS oxygen debt can create any symptom down the leg,I just assumed it part of the whole hog,and the pain left with the others upon commencement of the investigation.
Note: My finger was crushed in a workplace accident(800-1000lbs fell on it)...My hand ached whenever I put my firstbase glove on for a year afterwards(conditioning) yet I could lift 100 pound buckets with no pain.
Everytime I put on my firstbase glove,I began to think how much I hated the boss on the job where my hand was crushed...and of course the symptom is now gone.

Peace
Marc

Yes, I had a problem with my toe that was definitely TMS. It was the toe next to the little toe on my right foot. In fact, every once in a while I will fell a slight pain there when I am stressed but it is very mild (hardly a pain at all) and doesn't last long - and 99% of the time it is completely cured. It started with the big toe and then jumped to that one, so two were involved, but the big toe sensation has never come back at all.

Mine started out as a sharp pin prick sensation in the big toe that wouldn't go away. The smaller toe had a mild throbbing type sensation. I, shall we say, panicked and immediately diagnosed myself with MS, which my mother had! Especially since I didn't have the "classic" sciatica pain which supposedly runs down the leg. Long story short, I don't have MS, and have TMS.

Mine didn't start with a toe injury. I did have a minor back injury lifting weights and finger/toes problems decided to mainifest themselves shortly thereafter. Your toe pain seems perhaps a little bit worse than mine, but since you had an actual toe injury, you may have given your subconcious even more of an excuse to go after your toes. Come to think of it, my subconsious may have been playing on my latent fears of MS and thus gave me more MS-like syptoms (tingling, pins). In helpng you, I am discovering more about myself - hey, thanks!

Hope that helps.

Carol,How long did it take w/ your toes? Can you describe in more detial your exact problem? Did they hurt just to have the sheets touch them at night or when they touched the mattress like mine? What about with shoes? Did it start w/ an injury and spread to the other toes? Did it completely dissapear?

I can answer this one with a simple yes! I have had TMS in toes and fingers. It isn't a problem anymore since I recognized it for what it was. Wish I could have such success with other pain sites (still have back and leg pain), but for some reason they don't seem to respond like other body parts.
