Posted - 12/23/2007 : 06:27:58 Ok, here is the deal. I have had this pain im my left rump and leg (down to my knee) for 3 years. It is not excruciating, but is a nagging pain for most of the day, except when I first wake up. I have read all of Dr. Sarno's books (sometimes twice), watched the video, did my daily log, etc. For the first two months after reading the book, the pain went away almost completely. However, the pain came back. I have had this same experience of the pain leaving after trying something new just for it to com back in a few weeks. I lice in SC, so I cannot get in to see Dr. Sarno. I was actually going to fly up there to NY, but they do not take patients outside of NY and CT. Actually, they would not even return my phone call.
Anyway, does anyone out there have any suggestions with what to do now before this pain in my rump puts me in the looney bin?
Thanks a lot, Paul |

Posted - 01/06/2008 : 16:33:40 Paul the forum is full of people suffering from their second and sometimes third round of pain caused by TMS. Many times the second round is much worse than the first and takes longer to overcome so don't feel like the Lone Ranger. This is my second round (sciatica)and it was much harder to deal with than my first round (neck).
Don't give up. Stay with the program. The gremlin within us is an S.O.B. to deal with.

Posted - 01/06/2008 : 15:27:36 The funny thing is that other treatments - muscle relaxers and working out, both also worked for about a couple of months also. I think that there is a lot to the TMS theory, but I must admit that I am not 100% convinced that this is the root cause since it was not the ultimate cure for me and since I have had similar results with other treatments. Ok, now I know I am opening myself up for a flood of people saying that I must believe in it 100% or it will not work, which may be true, but it is hard to believe in it when it quit working.
Anyway, thanks for all the replies.

I think you have found your own answer and you do not need to see a TMS doc. Since the pain went away, you have confirmed the diagnosis.
You need to explore the source of your anger and / or release your anger in some constructive way. Your inner child is still in a blinding wild rage in your subconscious. That's why you are still having TMS pain. The pain will not go away unless you eliminate the need for the distraction that the pain is doing you as a favor for your mind. Yes, your brain thinks its actually doing you a favor here.
Journal, wring out wet towels, scream and swear like a sailor (while alone in your car), beat up a trash barrel with a baseball bat (wear safety goggles), punching bag.

Dr. Weiss in Smyrna, GA would be a lot closer for you. Have you tried to see him? Here is a link to TMS docs in the US:

Posted - 12/26/2007 : 19:35:18 I have also been listening to Monte Hueftle's podcasts which have helped me. I just turn them on before I go to bed and listen to them.
Last summer I spent 2 days in the hospital for back spasms. When the pain is that bad, I know its a hard buy in, but it's all we have as suffers of TMS.
