Posted - 10/30/2007 : 07:03:39 I go to a yoga retreat called Kripalu in the Berkshires of MA and this past weekend I did a session called Core Concious Transformation. Now I know all the Sarno stuff is based on working on the UNconcious, but the session helped me a lot in terms of identifying a couple of the areas of my life where I need positive affirmations, if nothing else, just to send a more positive message to my concious and maybe get it to penetrate deeper, who knows? So the session was like 90 minutes and the person facilitating it had me lay on a massage table and close my eyes and then she prompted me with the farthest back memory I could come up with. From there she directed me on exploration of my feelings about myself, how others see me, etc. In the end she gave me an assignment to take home with me which is a list of positive affirmations that I am to do twice or more daily. I see nothing wrong with this, as positive messages to oneself is harmless and does not go against the TMS approaches as far as I can tell. She told me everyone who goes through the affirmations daily report back to her that they feel better physically and emotionally within weeks. I've only been doing this since Friday night but already my right hand feels better and all weekend it was absolutely unrelentless with hurt. Just thought I'd share that since it had a great positive effect on me so far.

Just because we call it the conscious part of our brain doesn't mean we have control over it or even understand it. And we need it to communicate with that pesky subconscious.
