I've been better from my TMS arm pain for almost 2 full years now. When I recovered from that, I also stopped getting the scary knee pain that kept me from doing any running sports and made me afraid to try new exercise.
I always rode my bike, even when I had TMS (my arms would hurt after about 5 miles of riding, though, so that's about how much I did) Since getting better from TMS, I started riding more, but really the longest rides I go on are about 8 miles. So, when my friend invited me on a 25 mile bike ride yesterday, I was scared I couldn't make it. But, I decided to go and see if I could do it.
I DID IT!!!
And I'm not a wreck today. A little stiff but no big pains. Plus, I rode another 5 or so today just commuting around town and I felt invigorated!
This changes my whole perspective on what is possible if you TRY. I got myself 25 miles from home on my own speed (then took train home, but still)! This is incredible. Why not ride across the state or cross country? Really. There's nothing to hold me back anymore now that I don't have to be afraid of hurting my body.
I'm really excited!I wanted to share it with you folks who motivate and support me with all the stuff you share!

Posted - 10/22/2007 : 16:00:00 Congrats carbar! I remember when I did my first ride over 10 miles without stopping: 39 miles. It's amazing what our bodies can do.
