I have been battling a recurrance of sciatica with mixed success. Then I was mostly pain free the past two days. Today the pain is there but not as bad as it was for some of the previous two months. I start a new job tomorrow. Didn't Sarno and Sopher say that only TMS can be the cause if the pain comes and goes. I am hoping this will boost my confidence and keep me on the path to pain free every day.

I would focus more on the fact that you are starting a new job tomorrow--sounds like a TMS trigger to me...

you are way ahead of some of my friends on another message board, who are all busily comparing MRIs this week.

Often with TMS it's two steps forward, one backward. Keep focused on the fact that your back isn't broken. It's just TMS. You mentioned yourself that you start a new job tomorrow. That alone can cause enough stress, tension and pressure to fire the TMS symptoms back up again.

And to answer your question, when the pain comes and goes - it's a good indicator of TMS being the cause.

Hang in there - stay focused on the stressors in your life and you'll get through it.

Thanks-

I know it is a success, but I am also frustrated that I have some pain today. Why? I feel like it is back and forward as I have had one pain free day a couple of weeks ago.
