was helping my mom move furniture when a sharp pain spiked my lower spine as I lifted a couch. I knew it was TMS right away. It persisted just a little. I kept moving the furniture, though.

Played golf right after and the lower back pain crept up a little during teh first few holes, but I knew it was TMS, and it hasn't come back since!

Then, tonight I was doing pushups and some shoulder pain came on about the 15th rep of my 2nd set. I ignored it, went back to the pushups 2 minutes later, and broke out 90 more pushups with no pain!

TMS is a funny, manipulative little thing sometimes...

What was I repressing? I have no idea. Here's a guess though.

I've come to feel that I've developed a lot of bad habits in terms of how I perceive my relationship with my parents throughout my life. I know that I've interpreted expectations from them for me and turned them into goals for who I should become, and in the process created a million self-defeating habits that were designed to make me the person I thought they wanted me to be, but really only repressed the true personality that lies within me. And I think these pressures can affect so many little parts of my life that I never know when the rage might be triggered in some bizarre little way and the TMS pain might bubble up.

Also of note: it was funny, the back pain while playing golf wouldn't come while I swung as hard as I could at a drive, but it would come while I made the slightest movement standing over a putt. So that told it me it was TMS, but it's amazing how REAL the pain of TMS can feel. Yet your brain is simply producing the effect artificially.
