Posted - 08/23/2007 : 21:39:30 This is too weird. As mentioned in my other posts, I have had some outer calf pain/spasms of different intensity levels since early November last year that I know is TMS but I am still wrestling with it. First my right leg, then it went away in the Spring and a couple of weeks later showed up in my left leg, same exact thing where it has been since mid-April of this year. Switching legs--classic TMS.
Lately I have renewed my determination to journal deeply and rock my subconscious' world more. I recently ordered Dr. Brady's videos and workbook to add to my Dr Sarno and Schecter collections since I feel I have been making a little more progress with a stronger connection to his story. By the way, I found it interesting that on these videos he does not use the term AOS like the video talk from the FL church on I believe it is Kelvin's web site, he uses Dr. Sarno's coined TMS).
Anyway, so tonight after work I knew I had time alone so I started writing, and writing and writing. Suddenly I had an insight into an event that might have been a trigger for the emotional stuff that triggeerd the second coming of the initial right leg pain (it started Nov and came back on again after almost stopping two months after it started this past January), and as I am writing, my left leg feels a lot better and my right lower leg--the original culprit--starts aching and throbbing.
Did I just write myself into my leg pain switching legs again? Was this because I may be onto something and my mind is trying to throw me off track with the pain? Any thoughts? Anyone else ever have this happen?

Posted - 08/24/2007 : 04:43:45 Sarno says if the repressed emotions were just there in the subconcious untouched and stored away, there w/b no TMS.
However, there must be some "force" (he claims he can't think of a better term) that is pushing these emotions to the conciousness.
Therefore, you must view TMS as the defense mechacnism competing for "concious" attention vs. the "force".
As you get closer to opening doors, the unconcious which thinks it's doing you a favor has no choice but the "automatic" reaction it's been conditioned to do which is to crank up the physical symptoms because it has learned in the past that you are distracted.
Your'e on your way to breaking that cycle. Nice work. Sarno says there's nothing to cure. You simply realize the distraction, it sinks in, the pain vanishes.

I'll keep my fingers crossed, and my pen going! |

Keep it up, you'll get through it.
