As a person who has been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, I can tell you that it's not helpful to be labeled as such. In fact, I read somewhere that when someone receives the diagnosis, they usually get worse! And I have found that whenever I focus on it as a physical illness, I feel much worse, too! I don't know how many are familiar with the treatment some undergo with Guaifenesin (an expectorant), but I almost went on that protocol. It means changing your life drastically, because you also have to avoid any topical agents that contain salicylates. (Makeup, shampoos, toothpastes, creams, etc usually contain them.) I joined one of the web forums of (mainly) women who are doing the protocol, and then I woke up one morning realizing (before I even started) that my physical symptoms had increased greatly! I was already aware of Sarno, so I got my book out and read it again. I quit the forum and have never looked back. And the pain subsided quite a bit!
