Watching a show on Discovery Health and it made an interesting comment. People who go through any kind of trauma as a child has their chemical imbalance distorted mentally for the rest of their lives. They are saying this is what makes it so hard to overcome things because you are chemically triggered to react/feel like you do after going through any trauma. Sounds plausible to me. Anybody else have any thoughts on this?

good points justme....I wonder if these chemical reactions both increase and decrease how you respond emotionally to thing...probably do. Different medications can change chemical make up as well....I know it has for me somewhat. I start therapy next week so if I learn something new I will share it.

I also think it is possible for this to happen to adults. I think I had it happen to me in childhood and in adulthood.

I also believe that it is possible to alter your chemical reaction to subsequent traumas through heightened awareness of your automatic emotional responses.
