Dear TMS Forum members,

After reading over the "Treatment" chapter (Chapter 4) in Dr. Sarno's "The Divided Mind", I can honestly state that no one could possibly write anything more clearly or concisely regarding what one must do to recover from TMS. I highly recommend that everyone on this board sit down and read this chapter at least 2 times.

Shawn

I disagree. I don't read Sarno, and I'm fine. I DO practice thinking psychologically instead of physically when I occasionally feel pain, and journaling, but to tell people on this board they will never stop reading Sarno is to say they can never be cured and lead normal lives, which just isn't true.

Please don't scare away the newbies, Shawn.

Regards,

Beth

I am glad you are feeling better, that is good news indeed.

Beth, this recommendation that I gave actually comes from Dr. Sarno and I am merely repeating it. One tends to forget the message over time after having recovered. Even one of the biggest success stories on this board- Baseball- feels the need to occasionally dig out his copy of "Healing Back Pain" as a gentle reminder. I am not saying you have to read every single day, but only occasionally is a precaution.

I try my best not to scare away anyone Beth as that is not my intention. Most people who have left this board in anger are not really angry at any board member at all, but are more consumed with unconscious rage which they are unable to admit to and take it out on fellow board members instead of looking inwardly and trying to find out what the real source of their pain is. They get stuck concentrating on their conscious emotions and refuse to go beneath the surface. I am also guilty of falling into that trap. I have read Dr. Sarno's books several times over and try - with the best of my limited understanding- to convey what he says on this board using my own language. Sometimes the lanugage may be a bit tough but it is meant to steer people in the right direction and not hurt them in any way.

If you have to ask, then you need the book.

Is it worth me getting The Divided Mind? I have Healing Back Pain and The Mindbody Prescription already. I also have Marc Sopher's book which is excellent.

It was in an apoplectic fit of TMS goodism; I must be relapsing. And here I thought I was cured. I felt my body autonomicly drawn to my bookshelf, my fingers grasping the tomes.

But all is not lost, I have an e-book version of MBP on my Dell. I hope I don't give my lap-top away too.

I would not lend any of my Sarno books to anyone. I would purchase one and give it to a friend as a gift, but I refuse to lend out my personal copy. I read his books everyday- 7 days a week. I am getting to read some more in a few minutes.

This really sucks, I just lent out my copy of TDM to a personal injury attorney buddy and MBP to my neighbor, a coreographer, who has a "herniated disc".

Damn, and here I thought I was cured of being a TMS goodist and could get the hell out of here, (please save the applause).
