Folks, we're supposed to be adults, and this is supposed to be a HELP board. Can we try to keep that in mind? |

One other thing. This board is Dave's baby now; you would have to ask him what he thinks it is and where he thinks it is going. But when it was my board, I never, ever thought of it as being a "support" group where people get together to trade positive affirmations. It was always a place for discussion and, yes, argument on topics related to TMS. That also involved people helping people, which was good, but that was not all the board was about...
We have had chiropractors, medical doctors and other medical and quasi-medical practitioners post here, people who were 100% opposed to everything Dr. Sarno stands for. They were not thrown off the board because they were not "positive" enough or didn't believe correctly enough; they were answered, questioned, contradicted -- which they were not used to, and they went away.
I fear for this country, one reason being that the schools no longer teach anyone how to think; they are only interested in teaching them what to think, i.e., political progaganda. In fact, any student who knows how to think and practices it -- meaning putting ideas, logically, to the test -- does not usually get along very well with the teachers and administrators.
Some of the people who post here are prime examples of those who simply have no clue about or any interest in thinking rationally. They are quite happy to simply choose what to believe and then never take in anything that doesn't support those beliefs.
This is a formula for totalitarianism. Let the sheep now all go, "Baaaaaaaaaa"!

Oh no, another "supposed to" that I am required to live up to. Here goes the TMS rage levels again.

Hi Shary,
The 1 to 7 ratio pretty accuartely mirrors those who will accept the TMS theory and those who won't. Folks NEED their distractions. I would disagree with your assertion, that no one cares about it, otherwise why would there be so many replies and reads? It's just human nature to slow down and look at car-wrecks.
It's when we try to pretend that we don't harbor ugly tendancies residing in our primitive vestigel brains, that we get ourselves into trouble that may present themselves in psychosomatic symptoms.
I would disagree with you on your assertion that "we are all supposed to be adults"-- WHY? and WHO says so? TMS theory is based upon basic precepts of Freudian pschology, that our minds are composed of ids, egos and super-egos that are always in conflict. Why can't a board devoted to Freudian psychology reflect these conflicts. And what about our inner-childrens? The world is a rude place these days, just about everything on TV is rude, coarse garbage, Rap videos, Rosie O'Donnel, the moron who stapels himself, being punked--this place is tame in comparison. Maybe one of the causes for the TMS epedemic is the unconscious denial and suppression of the increasingly rude, nasty and coarsening direction of our culture, just a theory, but sorry I digress.
I certainly agree with you on the "help" aspect of the board and I have done more than my fair share of helping; I would guess-timate about 98% of my posts have been of the "help" kind and 5% rebuttals to others political statements I have differing views on. It's not my fault I'm one of the few anarchist-moderates politiicaly here.
And, I always believe in ladies first; it should be Alexis's feud with TT, NOT TT's feud with Alexis. I'm not the one who enshrined her one-sided, totaly out of context epistle in my bio.
