Hi Everyone, I have two of Dr. Sarno's books. I have The Mind Body Prescription and The Divided Mind. I was wondering if I should purchase Healing Back Pain. I also have Dr. Sophers book and I just ordered Pain Free For Life. I appreciate your responses.

I have read Mindbody Prescription, Healing Back Pain, and the Divided Mind. Healing Back Pain is the one I always end up going back and reading. It hit home with me. Like Sarno was writing the book for me, even though it was written years before I would have my first symptom. I do like the Daily Study Program outlined in The Divided Mind.

I agree w/ wood and weather, I keep going bk to HBP. Well, the other ones too, but to me thats his "flagship". Just substitute your symptoms for back pain if not the back. I highly reccomend it. It includes letters to Dr. Sarno that probably everyone on this board can see themselves in.

Personally I think Healing Back Pain is the best Sarno book - concise and to the point. I also like Marc Sopher's book "To be or not to be Pain Free."

Another book worth getting is Monte Hueftle's "Get Rid of the Pain in Your Butt Now." Much of it's a bit rambling and ethereal (out there) - but it has sections that are absolutely brilliant, particularly when he discusses the often ludicrous conventional diagnoses.

I have all the books and re-read parts of all of them. Some mention things I don't recall in others and all of the info is always a good reminder.
I took Healing Back Pain on a recent trip to read for variety, and then left it on a Continental flight to Ft. Myers. Hope the finder got something out of it!
For those who only want to buy one book, I'd recommend TDM since it's the latest information.

I'm branching out and reading non Sarno mindbody books. I am currently reading "Your body speaks your mind" by Deb Shapiro and so far it seems quite good.

I agree. That was the first one I bought since it was specific about back pain. I like the other books as well, but I do keep going back to "Healing Back Pain."

Hi LitaM,

If you have pain, or if you wish to prevent pain, keep reading books by TMS practitioners. I have just started reading Dr. Marc Sopher's book and it is delightful. I have Dr. Brady's book in waiting.

I would also reccommennd anyone having the opportunity to visit and consult with a TMS practitoner do so even when they are not having issues. The best time to see a doctor is when you don't need one.

Someday I may take a TMS road trip, earmarking TMS practitoners as my way-points.
