Anyone else struggle with this like I do. Trying to find the right career/job causing tension. I probably did one of the boneheaded mistakes of the century. I took a job with the medical community, it's a clinic, that provides healthcare to the uninsured. I took the job because I was unhappy where I was at, but feel like I made the biggest mistake ever. I haven't been sleeping, stomach is in knots, and worry through the roof. Anyone relate?

Well, there's more to it. We host these women's clinics, and evidently the chief administrator will recommend that some ladies go and get an abortion.The other day one of the volunteer nurses said something about how she didn't agree w/ abortion and was fired. Any who, I'm against it, and I'm having trouble marketing the clinic because of this. It goes against my morality. My stomach has been in knots, tight and starting to burn. So, I know it's the stress and tension.

* Is it true?
* Can you absolutley know beyond a shadow of a doubt that this is true?
* Who would you be without the thought that " I probably did one of the boneheaded mistakes of the century?"
* How do you react when you believe the thought that I probably did one of the boneheaded mistakes of the century?"

Just asking, not judging.

I can relate to the perfectionist tendency of agonizing over choosing the "right" thing (or, more accurately, the ONE right thing--even though we know deep down that there isn't one right way...). This is even how I've approached my recovery from TMS (until recently). I had been fanatical about doing it the "right" way, and putting myself in distress because I couldn't know for sure what that one_right_way was. It's craziness that drives this, really. Don't you think? Because it's not rational. But neither are our emotions.

It's hard, but I'd recommend ceasing the anguish. The decision has been made, now throw your whole self into it. If, after a period of months, you decide it's not working out, then you will know that you gave it your all and you can try something different. But I wouldn't back out now (I know you didn't mention this, but from your post, you seem to be resisting your decision in a mental/emotional sense). You haven't given yourself time to fully experience this new avenue, because you've been hesitating ever since the decision was made. (Sorry, I'm speculating, but this is what I sense from your post. Correct me if I'm wrong! ) It's like you've outwardly made the decision, but the rest of you hasn't agreed with it (said "yes!") yet. This really reminds me of the book Feal the Fear. Have you read it? You might find it helpful (in learning how to embrace your choice and move forward feeling good about it).

best,
ss
