Posted - 12/04/2006 : 08:46:04 Is muscle twitching (fasciculation) a TMS symptom? I've had muscle twitching off and on for the past two years. After a long period without this, it has re-emerged in the past week or two. I've never known what to attribute this to, but am now wondering if this is a form of TMS. It certainly is distracting. |

One thing that I'd like to add is that I have recently given up caffeine and now when I get stressed it doesn't trigger twitching of my eyelid (which had been a common reaction to deadlines at work). Placebo maybe but I am a calmer person now that I don't drink caffeine and I like that.
Something to note is that some medications can have a side effect of twitching. (eg antidepressants) I have had 2 long bouts of all over twitching in the past. One is described in one of the posts above and the other was when I was on Paxil. |

Posted - 12/04/2006 : 09:51:52 Yes Jeff, I think it can be TMS..I had alot of that on and off during my healing..still do on occasion..It is a neurological symptom, I believe, in my case..Sarno says that depriving oxygen and blood flow to certain muscles and nerves can cause all sorts of symptoms ranging from pain, tightness, tingling, numbness, muscle weakness and certainly twitching..I remember a chiro i saw years ago also told me that he had that for years after he recovered from a spinal injury..it was nothing to be concerned about..Hope this helps..:) ~Karen |
