Posted - 09/27/2004 : 07:46:45 What is going on? Is this a good for bad thing? There is NO doubt that stress is causing my back pain. I did NOTHING this week end that could "Hurt" my back.
I did have a stressful night last night. I didn't sleep well, and I know I thought about all my problems while I was sleeping. I woke up several times and during the night and when I did I was thinking about my back, money or anthing that I was stressed about.
I woke up, and I no longer have sharp pains when stand, but a constant dull ache. Please help. |

Posted - 09/27/2004 : 12:35:10 It’s progress. It means that your brain is changing the distraction – different level of pain or pain in different places. Read Sarno’s books as much as possible and reading messages here will also help. To succeed abandon any thoughts about physical problems, you have to tell yourself all your problems are with your unconscious. I sometimes talk to my unconscious asking what is going on with it and what problems is it dealing now. I reject any physical thoughts. For example when I have pain in my elbow I never ask myself anymore what was I doing to hurt my elbow. I think, was there any event today that would trigger my emotions to surface. |

Posted - 09/27/2004 : 07:55:21 When treating TMS it's important not to get caught up in the day-to-day changes in symptoms. You must take a long-term view.
When battling TMS it is common for the symptoms to be all over the place. One day you may have no pain, the next day you may have excruciating pain. One day it may be in your lower back, the next day in your neck.
Do not think about the pain. Instead of focusing on where or how bad the pain is, accept it as a signal for you to address your emotional state. |
