I am reading the book nd reading these posts and still trying to decide if TMS is my foot problem. It has been ongoing for 5 years, diagnosed as PF, tested for everything under the sun and still no relief.
It came on immediately after returning from my honeymoon...My life was literally an emotional STRESSED out disaster.
What have been your symptoms of PF?

I don't know what PF is, but Dave is right. Perfectionism and goodism is what you're describing and that's the TMS personality. And no, five years is not unusually long! If you keep putting yourself under high stress, then the pain stays...

Isn't five years an awful long time to have this?
It seems like every time I have some "stress" in my life or I get angry or even when my hormones really kick in the foot pain flares up badly. Not to mention I am a huge perfectionist and carry guilt around like it is my permanent backpack! (Guilt about money, guilt about being a mother, doing enough for everyone etc etc) and I worry constantly if I am not always doing something! I clean and "do" for others to not have to feel guilt but it creeps in anyway and WHAM.....I start worrying about my feet again and the pain comes on.
It's total insanity.
I am hoping to be able to read more every day but with a toddler it is hard to take more than a few minutes to read.

That is basically the definition of TMS. You need to keep reading.
