Hey y'all. I just finished reading Mind over back pain by Dr. Sarno. (My sister got it from a friend and she didn't think it pertained to her and thought it might help me) Talk about making sense of what is going on with me! I live in N. California and thought I might find a doc who follows the TMS practice in my area. Geez...There only seem to be a handful in the whole country! In lieu of seeing someone in person I am considering getting the video on Mind body Healing (I think that's what it's called) Also...there seems to be a strange increase in my spasms now that I have this new knowledge. It's almost a joy and a curse that I know that it is tied in with my personality and/or events in my life that are "unresolved". Life just always seems to need a challenge to overcome I guess....

I think for Northern California the closest are the two in the Bay Area: Bruce Eisendorf in Santa Cruz and Parvez Fatteh in Hayward/San Ramon.

I'm in Norhtern Ca. too but fairly rural, the chances of finding any Doc close are slim for me as well. I did watch the video's just the other day in fact. I had already read two of Sarno's books and also one of Scott Brady's books "Pain Free for life" which I really enjoyed. So for me the video's were just an accessory to see Sarno live LOL since it was mostly reveiw of what I have already learned through the books. If you've just read the one book the video might be something you would really enjoy. E-bay often has the video's at a reduced price.

I had an increase in symptoms after reading the first book so don't be alarmed at that. I've generally been having a much better time with the original pain issue though since then.

Good that Dr. Sarno's work has you thinking about the true cause of your pain. Note that Mind Over Back Pain, the good doctor's first book, has been updated 3 times, so it would be wise to read the later books to see how the theory has changed and matured over time.

You can find a list here....http://www.tmshelp.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2480

Remember, the pain is real but the cause is your repressed rage.

Take care, -Stryder
