Sopher mentions this in his book:

"You may not have heard about burning mouth syndrome yet, but I have no doubt that you will. It is gathering steam and I have no doubt that it is a disorder with a psychological cause. ... As with many TMS equivalents, no cause is identified and treatment is infrequently successful."

Hi donia,

It does sound like TMS.

I can't remember: have you read any of Sarno's books?

It's hard to actually ignore pain. Instead, try focusing on any psychological issues you may have. It may be unpleasant for you to do so (which could be why you have the pain - it acts as a distraction so you don't have to face those issues). If you don't feel able to face the issues on your own you might want to try psychotherapy.
