Hi All,
I was wondering if my living in NY now I would be allowed to sit in on one of Dr. Sarno's group sessions..I cannot afford 1000 to become his patient just yet, but would love the opportunity to meet him in person and attend a lecture..Also, does anyone know of any TMS support groups in NY or NJ? I have alot on my plate right now and I don't want to slack on doing the TMS work I need to..Hope someone can help..I could also use Dr. Sarno's current email address if anyone has it..Thanx and hope you are all well..
God bless and hugs,
Karen

Just wanted to be yet another person to encourage you to try to get the $ together to see Dr. Sarno. I also benefitted greatly from seeing him and having him look me in the eyes and say I had TMS w/no doubt in his mind. He just cuts through all the BS. By that I mean the BS in our minds. His approach is simple, his office is simple, his program is simple - no glitz to impress you. Just facts. It may help you more than you think. I can't imagine you regretting you went. I'd hurry. He's in his eighties and may retire soon.
Good luck and welcome to the east coast. Nor

Hi All,
I wanted to also mention that it may take me a few days to attempt to write to Dr. Sarno..I am going through some very difficult challenges right now and also going to a wedding in upstate New York for the weekend..Not sure I will have computer access..I want to try the email address Corey gave me first b4 writing to the regular address..I have started going to overeaters anonymous 12 step meetings and am hoping that I can address some of the underlying emotional issues in that venue as well..Perhaps it will help with the TMS..I wish there was a group in NY that is ongoing..I am surprised there is not..Once I get permanently in the area next year perhaps I will start one..I am currently living in Staten Island..THanx for listening..
God bless,
Karen

Hi Karen,

I've seen an email address on the web site of NYUMC. I came across it a while back by putting the doctor's name into a search engine, which took me to a page that lists Dr. Sarno's background and then there is a link marked "contact" which has the email. It's john.sarno@nyumc.org.

Don't know if it will be of use to you--I know the frustration of not being able to afford treatment because I can't even go to a therapist at County Mental Health right now, but I hope you can fit in the journaling and maybe re-read parts of whatever book you've got in the meantime.

Take care, Corey

Hi there Karen,
I am a patient of Sarno's - i really would call myself pretty cured now and am applying the principal to my food allergies and skin problems with great success. do you have health insurance? I got about $500 paid back to me. For $500, i have my life back after 14 years of agony and misery. I know it was worth it. I needed to hear the good doctor say to me "you have TMS" it started the ball rolling. I have worked on the "cure" for the last 2 years and it has been wonderful - slow but steady. Now I rarely get pain - whereas before I couldn't walk

Hi Karen:
Welcome back to the East Coast! I am a patient of Sarno and I don't think you can go to the lectures without being a family memeber of a patient or being a patient yourself. He just had a lecture last night. It sounds like you have the important knowledge of the cause of your symptoms and you may not need to see him. I saw him and still suffer from the tinnitus and other symptoms. The $1000.00 covers everything, not just his intial consultation so it's not so bad.
Good luck and welcome back!! Joan

You would need to call Sarnos office to confirm whether you can attend the lecture without paying the $1000 for the initial consultation. I honestly don't know why it's $1000, my insurance would only consider $400 as a "reasonable cost of treatment" in the NYC area. NOTHING in the consult or lecture could possibly cost more than $100 per person.

Sarno also has no email address, you need to write him or call:

Rusk Building
400 East 34th St, between 1st Ave and East River Drive
Ground floor, Room 30

You NEED to make time to do the TMS work. If you put it off because of other things going on in your life the pain will continue and your mind will continue to win using its "trick".
