This last week (my second in healing TMS) although I've had success in minimising some of my symptoms (back-ache and leg pains) I've been quite overcome by a listless mood and lack of energy.

I've been sleeping in till noon, and even if I set my alarm for earlier, when it rings I don't feel I have the energy to get up.

Also the listlessness is extending to my moods. I don't seem to have any enthusiasm for anything - meeting friends, going out and having fun, sports... it all just seems so... pointless.

Has anyone else experienced something similar? Is this TMS shifting from my back into fybro-style lack-of-energy symptoms, do you think?

I'm slightly worried that I'll just get stuck in this mode and not make any more progress with healing my TMS.

thanks,
greg.

Yes, depression. And yes, exercise, espec running, is great for mild to moderate depression. It changes your brain.

Of course, while depressed you probably won't feel like doing anything, but you have to force yourself to at least begin. After that it becomes easier.

Depression (if that is what you're feeling -- my symptoms of depression are much different and involve emptiness and restlessness rather than sleepy listlessness, so it's hard to compare) is sometimes a new defense against the same emotions that the symptoms were previously defending against. If you can come up with a way to stay motivated into the psychological inquiry, then you may end up experiencing some previously repressed feelings. I usually feel much better after this happens, although it's not a pleasant experience of itself.

Although this may be mild depression, I thought I'd still post some snippets addressing the issue of lack of motivation, which could be helpful to some.

Here are some suggestions:

* Focus on what you really enjoy doing, maybe on something you want to take up or on a hobby you've always wanted to devote more time to. What's stopping you? Think about giving it priority to start doing what you love doing.
* Make a list of things you'd like to improve on and how you're going to do it
* Review all the successes you've enjoyed in every area of your life, totally forget any negatives, just positive successes here!
* Start an exercise program - force yourself to do it, it'll make you feel much more positive.
* Contact a positive friend and have a chat.
* Read inspiring books that will help heal your mind and improve your attitude. I have put together a list of highly recommended self help books I know will help you so take a look and order one or two - you're going to find inspiration on every page!

Floorten,

Sounds like a mild form of depression, a TMS affective (emotional) equivalent. Try to find something find something to get excited about that makes you want to get out of bed to do. Daily aerobic exercise of about 30 minutes can balance out the negative effects.
