When I first started with the TMS work and joined this forum, I figured the main benefit I got out of it would be to help get rid of the pain. I wasn't really sure if doing the psychological work would make much difference in my feeling about myself, since that is fortunately not a requirement for feeling better. I figured I would know myself better, but not necessarily like myself better (being a perfectionist and all).

But I do feel like I've had a very positive change that is really just starting to blossom. Journaling all this stuff out, reminding myself to acknowledge and get to know my real feelings, conscious and unconscious, has caused a little seed of self-acceptance to creep in. Understanding how I work, and seeing that so many others work in similar ways, has made me feel more friendly about myself. When I am feeling resentful and angry I just see it as a pretty common and normal reaction, one that I am familiar with, understand, and can handle. Experiencing the deeper emotions of sadness and anger has given me some confidence that I can continue to handle those that have come up and will come up in the future. I have a bit more equilibrium. It's not a sea change but it does feel really good at times.

I just wanted to share that positive experience, maybe inspire some to keep on trucking on the road, and thank those who've helped me out around here!

WONDERFUL to hear this, ACL...I am so happy for you, and quite inspired by this post...Hoping I also start feeling more self acceptance through all of this introspection and healing...
Love what you write at the end too! "Wherever you go, there you are.." I had a book called that once, very good...It helped me realize that moving, relocating doesn't necessarily fix things...
