Posted - 07/07/2006 : 14:44:30 I have never gotten sick from it but that would be a good motivator! I don't buy that nail polish either for the exact same reason. I usually don't know I am doing it, been doing it since little kid. Stopped for a while (while in remission a few years back....yes I journaled every day then...I have journaled on and off my whole life...ok since the age of 11 LOL). Thanks!

Posted - 07/07/2006 : 12:47:42 I've had my share of the nail biting habit. I don't know if I would go as far as saying it's TMS as opposed to perhaps subconscious anxirty about something. Some people smoke when nervous, others may bite their nails. Form what I thought, TMS has to do with some kind of discomfort like back/neck pain, tendonitis, etc. I could be way off though.
As for quitting the habit, I pretty much just outgrew the habit plus I was getting tired of having my fingers in my mouth and getting sick from it due to who knows how many germs your hands pick up over the course of a day.
I know they make bad tasting polish you can put on your nails but I never tried that. I figured if I knew it would taste bad I just wouldn't put it on |
