Posted - 09/04/2004 : 11:07:57 Delivered from Over 20 years of back pain.
At May-June of 2003 I was at my worst condition in my life and decided to see a neurologist and have my first MRI. At the failure of treatment and explanation I was given one last remedy of hope. Sent to the pain institute for a series of steroid injections. One year ago I had a series of 3 epidoral steroid injections, the first was a miracle, releasing me from over 20 years of pain. But the 2nd and 3rd failed and wore off within a few days. During this duration I was also prescribed neorontin (bad stuff man). The dosage was increased and even doubled within the last moth of his care. At the failure of his care the only thing left was to send me for physical therapy. I started a series of intense physical therapy that lasted for over 3 months was even given an extension for the fourth. By October- November of 2003 I was introduced to Dr Sarno’s work. After believing what I read from all three of his books I decided to self diagnose myself with TMS and quit physical therapy. At that time I quit all physical remedies including drugs and any medications and went 100% into the sarno camp.
It has been over 1-1/2 years since I have had any chiropractic adjustment. It has been over nine moths since I have stretched or did any physical exercise that is in relationship with back strengthening.
At this time I would like to report and give praise to doctor Sarno and the help I received from this help forum. One year ago I could not do much of anything besides exist. (That is in continual pain.)
This past summer I have enjoyed over 10 fishing trips with no pain. I have returned to riding my 2001 Harley Davidson Superglide with no pain or discomfort (“In the wind baby”, nothing like it) For over 20 years I was programmed not being able to sit more than 10 minutes without PAIN, now I sit pretty much as long as I need to.
Am I completely healed? I don’t think so.
Edited part (Do I still get TMS pain when under stress, have anxiety, or have un-confessed ANGER.)? YES
Is there more to learn what TMS is capable of doing with in ones repressed emotions? Absolutely
Is there more changes to make daily, adjusting my life style personality and attitude towards my self and others? An astounding YES.
For anyone who is just beginning to explore TMS or the one who is on the way but hasn’t seen the light yet, I would like to say there is Hope for Recovery, stay with it keep the faith and press forward with the RIGHT attitude and perspective. Be willing to do some self-examination and to let go of some strongholds. It is well worth it.
And if anyone wouldn’t mind if you are pretty much in the area of recovery as me, would you let me know if this sore spot that is always there. Will it ever go away?
