Posted - 06/15/2006 : 12:26:28 Yesterday a friend did a foot massage for me and now my previous knee injury is hurting, on top of the neck..There is some improvement in the neck...He kind of pulled on my foot and so my fear is that he threw my knee out of alignment somehow..I am icing it and soooooo sick of being stuck in the house with these injuries...I want to accept TMS 100 percent but it is hard when something 'physical' happens just b4 the onset of the pain..Just want to feel better by my bday on Sunday..And would really love to go on that Alaskan cruise a friend wants to take me on but afraid i will cause further damage to my neck..It's even hard to read..I read Sarno's other 2 books..I have the new one but have a hard time positioning myself to read..can't hold anything with weight in it..So tired of feeling sooo fragile all the time...And have no family in Vegas..I am from NJ and lost both parents 16 years ago...Just want my life back... |

Posted - 06/15/2006 : 20:15:53 You sound from your posts that you are totally obsessed with your pain and are constantly giving it physical causes. This is very typical tms. Fear is your biggest enemy. You are constantly feeling for your pain. We have all done this. You are going to have to get out of bed and procede with some normal daily activity. Get your mind off of your every move. Think about what you would like to do today and go do it. You surely won't feel any worse then you do now. Right? I bet no one has thrown their knee out of alignment with a foot massage. This is your watershed moment. You can get up and try Sarno or just lay there. You must quit looking for a physical cause for your pain. Listen to Mala. It is your brain doing this to you. Get up and fight. I know what it is like to be paralized with fear. If you can get past it , you are home free. |

Posted - 06/15/2006 : 19:08:59 Seems to me like you really need to enjoy yr birthday and go on that Alaskan cruise. Don't let your mind control you coz this is exactly what it wants to do. It wants you to stay focused on the pain so don't let it succeed. Also don't try to justify or give reasons for your pain like 'it must be becoz of the massage' or 'it must be becoz I did this'. This is the kind of thinking you need to avoid if you want to get better.
How do you know that going on the cruise will damage your neck further? Seems like you've already decided it will and so it probably will. You say you accept that its TMS but to me it sounds like you haven't really. Keep reading Sarno till you really understand the concepts and the treatment and do exactly as he says in the book.
