Posted - 06/14/2006 : 18:39:13 I'm new here. I did a search, but didn't find anything similar to my questions--sorry if this is posted often. Quick story--back in late 2004, I was diagnosed with herniated L4-L5 disc, degenerative disc disease, etc., stopped going to the gym and biking, tried physical therapy and seeing a chiropractor for months, surgery and injections were recommended by doctor... nothing really worked and I wasn't going to try surgery. Finally someone turned me onto Sarno. I read his books (repeatedly), watched the videos too, and got better within weeks. I was 90% pain free, hitting the gym and biking with no worries, for over a year. Then I split up with my girlfriend of 16 years a few months ago and am basically raising our daughter on my own now, and the TMS is back. It's pretty bad. I can think of so many reasons why it returned, tried re-reading the books, and re-watching the videos, but I'm stuck. Not getting any better.
I think I need to see a psychoanlayst to figure out some stuff from my childhood. I don't know where to start looking. How do you find someone who already understands TMS, so I don't have to explain it? Is there a network of mental health professionals that I can look into? Help.
Check out the above link for a directory of TMS doctors. They should be able to refer you to therapists schooled in TMS theory they work with. Therapy by phone can be done also.
