I was just thinking today about what really keeps me pain free and I think it is because I DO NOT DOUBT. Sarno and all his colleagues stress the importance of this. You cannot even have the slightest doubt. If you do, you have to counteract your own thinking with Sarno's logic. I am currently overcoming a relapse of restless legs by attacking self doubt. I got self doubt by seeing Requip ads. So my rls came back. So last night I really attacked my doubt by rational thinking about my own understanding of my rls as a tms equivalent, and I did not sit in my usual tv watching chair (which can act as a conditioned trigger for me). And I was fine. And today I am more confident. I also want to add that each day that you conquer your mind's tendency to doubt, you have more confidence for the next day. Fear and doubt are THE ENEMY, and they will bring on symptoms. You need to calmly accept the basis of pain or discomfort. I want to empasize the role of programming and conditioning in terms of bringing on symptoms. It doesn't always have to be rage at the time they come on. And you don't have to get to the bottom of the rage. Just believe in the power of the unconscious.
Those are my thoughts of the day. Hope they help someone out there.

I wonder how much the current deluge of drug ads on TV is responsible for the epidemic of psychosomatic "diseases" in our culture these days?

They plant the seeds, and reap the harvest.

I think the confidence of knowing that you can deal with day to day or bigger issues head on and immediately feels like a stronger cure than digging up the past or dwelling on it.

I am dealing with a stressful situation with my teenage daughter who in over-seas on a study abroad program. I will not say I am handling it perfectly but knowing that I had better not bury any feelings whatsoever is helping me cope. Sure I'm afraid and I have doubts but those are not the same as the fear of facing reality and doubting that I have the ability survive the stress. I trust that I know better than to let my ego create symptoms to distract me.

meditation for awareness and for quick centering has been extremely useful

Lack of doubts is of course essential, but
Do not forget that all of the problems came from our mindbody reaction on particular life situation. During past 3 days I have had some situations that temporary made me much better,
The first was quarreling with my boss who use to call me during the first day of leave with set ups and questions, non of them were reasonable and I was tough enough during conversation.
That assurance made me stronger and my reaction on anger situation was immediate.

The second was my lectures in the private high school the first from 7 years. I felt wonderful sharing my knowledge with the others. I have forgot of all my symptoms. All of that makes me thing about shaping new kind of relations with people with whom I work and about life style.

You are so right.

and I cannot help but think too many people are trying to hard to find the answer, or doing it all little by little, when, in fact, it has to be accepted totally and all the way.
