Posted - 03/12/2006 : 13:24:25 Does the pharmaceutical industry even see that they are sinking their own boat??
Ha ha,ha ha ha ha ha....Restless LEG syndrome????
I went to the MD last week and saw RLS on the cover of Time Magazine...than I read closer, and the magazine is supplied for free via the Pharmy's in exchange for their blatant pandering on the cover.
Shame on them...
I hope this wakes people up to the stupidity of the whole "I have a Syndrome' Market.
I have Restless Fist Syndrome...I really didn't mean to punch that Pharmaceutical rep in the nose....maybe he can fix me???

Posted - 03/17/2006 : 12:30:32 While I agree that restless legs syndrome may be a TMS equivalent, the bottom line is that it can be treated very effectively in many cases with medications. Don't forget that even Sarno says that most people are NOT amenable to his concepts; those people deserve help and treatment too, even if it is not in agreement with your worldview!
For all of those people, it is nice to have treatments that can improve their quality of life. Sure, the drug companies are in it for a buck, but there are many very useful medications out there for problems that were untreatable in the past. Don't be so cynical that you throw the baby out with the bathwater--if you had a serious disease that required medical treatment, you wouldn't be so glib.

Posted - 03/17/2006 : 07:16:26 I just checked into the forum and noticed that someone else mentioned restless leg syndrome. I have almost completely resolved 20 years of RLS using TMS theory. I consider RLS a TMS equivalent. I was on various medications, including the one being advertised many times a day, and they all stopped working. I took the bull by the horns and saw Dr. Angelov in Swampscott who described restless leg syndrom as "a soap bubble". I loved that analogy. With his help I stopped the medications and started dealing with RLS as a TMS equivalent. When I am afraid I will get them, I get them. When I am not thinking about them, I don't get them. I am coming from a place where they absolutely tortured me. So, on the one hand, I don't think anyone should make light of them. For those of us who have restless legs, it's awful. But the good news is that they can be managed by using Sarno's techniques. I have posted on this site several times about my struggle with the restless legs, and would love to hear from more people who are either dealing with this or have overcome it. Believe me, there is no information out there to lend support to the syndrome being caused by the mind, and it's a lonely road. Debby |

Posted - 03/12/2006 : 21:42:35 I have this huge blue medical book by the Mayo Clinic. In most regards its really very good as you can use it as a sort of triage manual to figure out wether or not you need to go to the doctor when something happens to you. Its also good to learn about new things for self help.
Information is powerful, for good and evil.
However, before I was Sarno-aware, my OCD-like mind had me convinced I had tens of the conditions I read about in the Mayo Clinic book. Its all so convincing when the untrained mind trys to draw conclusions from the written word in an area where you are not really an expert.
Just remember everyone... (most) docs and (all) med companies are in it for for the m - o - n - e - y. But you already knew that didn't you.
Take care, -Stryder |

Posted - 03/12/2006 : 14:49:29 Ha ha ha, and all that, but I've had this for 25 years now, well before it even had a name. I never imagined that other people could have it, it seemed so weird. Tell you the truth, it can be pretty damn uncomfortable, not to mention sleep-depriving.
I'm hoping it's a TMS equivalent, but for me at least the jury's still out.
Easy to laugh at stuff I know. I've done it myself. But in the last analysis, human suffering is probably not all that funny, no matter the source.
Having said that, I agree that the drug industry is basically a cynical joke in this country, |

Posted - 03/12/2006 : 13:35:37 Hehe. I got a "kick" out of that one myself. I thought it was pretty funny the first time I saw a commercial for it.
I wonder how many people's subconcious is now going to give them the leg equivalent of Tourette's syndrome just because they saw that commercial. |
