Hi

I am a great believer in Sarno and have been visiting this board for a while now.

I am just keen on other TMS/RSI people out there, on if they have similar issues where the symptoms subside, and then get worse in regular cycles, often due to stress/anxiety but at other times too. These cycles are more like two weeks than two monthly intervals.

I try to apply Sarnos principles but still can't quite get there.

For example I test myself where, I will be in pain, then think lets try Sarno out and ignore the pain and carry on, life play a computer game or do some sport, or do lots of typing. Then often the next day the pain is worse confusing my messed up brain about TMS.

The odd thing is I know this cannot be nerve damage or anything like that as it fluctuates and a daily/weekly basis so my brain must know its TMS.

Sorry for late reply.

I was in a similar position – didn’t seem to be improving, thought I should try psychotherapy, but was afraid of the cost and hadn’t a clue where to find someone. That’s why I tried The Journey – it seemed a much cheaper option.

I have considered psychotherapy although I don't have the finance to pursure it at the moment, my doctor said I would not be able to get this in the UK using the NHS service?. I am trying to do it by myself which is I guess why I can't quite get there.

You would have thought my brain would have got the message by now... I try always to think emotionally rather than physically. I think I am in some kind of self-perpetuating circle of.... I think the pain will be worse if I do something, and then or course it does get worse.

If you've been on this board a while, you probably already know that I suffered from RSI for around 7 years. Now by suffered, I mean gave up my entire life outside of work, and gave up a productive career at work in favor of a survival mode at work where I did the least amount of typing possible in the most efficient manner.

I got better, I got worse. 7 years.

If you're still "monitoring" how bad the pain is and such, your focus is still on all things physical. My only monitoring now is in the form of "Gee, what's my unconscious upset about now that's making my left wrist hurt." Followed by a brief consideration towards the stresses and anxieties in my life. That's it. I never slow down typing, I never take breaks (except to rest my Brain or de-stress) I never think about what I did yesterday or the pain I felt last week.
