I have recently become a patient of Dr. Sarno, having experienced hip pain for quite a while. I am scheduled to go to my first group meeting on Tuesday night. Can anyone tell me what they are like? And whether they have been helpful. Thanks.

They are monthly meetings for Dr. Sarno's patients and family members only. Its essentially a panel of 4 or so of his success story patients who tell their tales and answer questions. Its very inspiring. They are at NYU medical Center next to the Rusk Institute where you saw him. Call his office to get specific directions. The next one is at 6 ish? on March 7th. -Nora

Diane,
To answer your question, I've been doing well. I've had setbacks which disappoint me (I posted on the "f-word") but I keep hearing that its normal and I expect recovery. I find that its helpful for me to not discuss Sarno, TMS or my physical symptoms to anyone. My husband is very supportive so I save the very occasional whining for him! I just keep it to myself and keep referring my brain back to the psychological. There's a panel discussion on March 7th. Maybe I'll see you there. Good luck. - Nora

hi Nor: Thanks for the info. I wonder what your experience has been. Sounds like you have done well. I would love to hear about your progress and how long it took, if you are willing to share this. I've been working away at the book/journalling etc but no significant relief yet.

Hi Diane,

The lecture is basically Dr. Sarno going over TMS theory. If you have read his book, a lot of it will be a review. I still found it helpful and the question/answer part was also valuable. If you still require additional help, I also found the panel discussions even more helpful. You get to actually hear success stories and ask questions again. Good luck. - Nor
