We live in GA. My husband had had two back surgeries (unsuccessful to stop the pain), been to Acupuncture, and now does the monthly visit to the PAIN doctor. Nothing has worked. I think I finally have him convinced to look at Dr. Sarno TMS as a REAL solution.

Is there a clinic or Dr. In Georgia tha anyone has heard of? What steps did you guys take to get started?

I have believed that stress was the problem for 6 years now - since I read the book and saw some shows....he is a little 'slow' for 'alternative treatments' - but enough is enough.

Where would he start?

thanks!

Great stories on pain free living!

There's also Dr. Brady in Florida. http://www.bradyinstitute.com/

And you might want to watch the video segments online of the 20/20 show on Dr. Sarno, by John Stossel, who was healed by Dr. Sarno after 20 years of back pain.

or the one on Rosie O'Donnell:

The video quality is poor, but the programs are very good and worth watching, both for education and encouragement.

Here's the name of a doctor in Georgia that I got from Kim Ruby's site www.tarpityoga.com. She has a directory of doctors in the U.S. who are on board with TMS (I saw one in northern California & he was great) as well as other great TMS resources.

Sarno has a 2 tape video package which is basically like attending his lecture if you were his patient. You can purchase it from his web site. I watched it quite a few times in the beginning until it really sank in for me. I found it to be very useful to actually see and hear the words.

I also really found Fred Amir's book to be what pushed me over the hump to get well. He has some great suggestions on how to get back to living life pain free.

Cheers,

Gaye

I am trying to point my husband on the right track....he is ready for a new approach....and I think TMS is going to be the solution.

I will get him involved here....since he must work on his own healing and attitudes. If there were seminars, forums, or books on CD's I was going to jump start him....

Welcome to the board

I suggest you read Dr. Sarno's Healing Back Pain and then The MindBody Prescription. Then read again the treatment and psychology sections of these books over and over again until the message sinks in. At the same time you need to begin thinking and journaling about what has brought you to the condition you currently find yourself in, including personalilty traits, past trauma and current stressors. Keep in mind the pain you have is due to TMS which serves the function of distracting you from your inner emotions, primarily which are anger and anxiety.

If you can find a TMS doctor that is great, but if you have already gone through extensive tests and nothing has been found or no treatment options are working then you may want to give Dr. Sarno's work and honest try.

Tell us more about your symptoms and then, after having done that, tell us what is going on in your life as this is the key to recovery.
