Posted - 08/02/2004 : 12:06:54 One of my coworkers has been having thyroid problems. I believe she was diagnosed with a hyperactive thyroid. She has read "Mindbody Prescription" and agrees with it, and she was asking me if I ever heard of any link between TMS and thyroid problems. I had not. She said she has noticed a definite psychological link between when she has a "flareup." It usually happens at a time when she is stressed out.
Is there any possibility that thyroid problems can have an underlying cause that is purely psychosomatic? Or is it simply that psychological factors aggrevate such a problem?

Posted - 08/02/2004 : 13:03:47 I have a hyper active thyroid also. I also have other tms equivalents, like acid reflux, asthma, allergies, ezcema. I have wondered myself if thyroid problems did not stem from tms. The reason my throid was checked, was because of fatigue. Well fatigue is another manifestation of tms. I have also had vertigo about two years ago, that was unexplained so now I go back and see that it was also probably an episode of tms. I highly suspect that thyroid problems can be tms, although Sarno does not mention them in his books. |
