Posted - 07/31/2004 : 21:27:42 Just stumbled onto this site and am comforted to know there is a support system for TMS sufferers. I was fortunate enough to go through Dr. Sarno's program back in 1990 and have been relatively pain free until recently. But my back pain has been coming back with a vengence since January and I guess it's time for a refresher course. I bought the video and am reading the books again. I'm in terrible pain but I sincerely believe in this program (14 years of relief ain't a bad record). I'm just going to have to be patient. I know it will work again. Anyway, thanks for being there. Reading all the success stories is a huge help. |

Posted - 08/02/2004 : 08:25:04 Hmmmmm....very, very true. Didn't even catch that. Thanks. Very interesting. As far as the pummeling goes...I got that down pat. Thanks for keeping me on track. |

Can't argue with success, but visualizing "tight muscles" is thinking physical. How about visualizing pummeling the people in your life who are pissing you off at the moment |

Posted - 08/01/2004 : 22:10:28 Thanks all.
I did have a better day today (but slightly reluctant to admit it for fear of the sky falling tomorrow). I think all the reading and reflection helped. I even managed a 20 min. kickboxing workout this morning which actually felt great while I was doing it (!). With each kick and bounce I try and visualize the tight muscles loosening up rather than worrying about injuring myself. It worked. And I've been sitting for several hours now with only mild pain. (I had been squirming in agony for the past few weeks whenever I sat for 2 mins).
Again...I am convinced that this will lift with time and hopefully I'll learn something in the process.
Thanks again and enjoy your vacation. |

Posted - 08/01/2004 : 13:23:35 Ark, you did it once, you'll do it again, probably pretty shortly. Let us know when you start to feel better. This board is in need of success stories and your 14 years is encouraging. Good Luck! |

Posted - 08/01/2004 : 09:22:28 Dear Ark,
Welcome aboard. I just lost a post to you that I spent a good half hour at least composing--a real gem, too, I assure you. I'm leaving on vacation this moring so I don't have time to re-write it, I'll try from the road. You're on the right track and you know the drill.
Try looking at MBP, p.26, the list of life's events that can cause "dis-ease".
The board is in the summer doldrums so that's why you haven't had many responses. A common characterisric here is that TMS goes away on vacation and returns approx. 50 miles from home. I'm headed North, it's only 32 hours to Juneau I hear. I'm going to count trees.
Good luck Ark, I'm sure you'll "refresh" your Sarno well, better than my computer. tt |
