OK, I'm not using any more pain meds, that don't work anyway, and I'm noticing my pain move around. I have not given up bio freeze however, as in my mind, it takes the edge off momentarily so I will disconnect from "pain memory" at the same time focusing on the emotional in the moment. Am I just reinforcing the pain by responding to it with biofreeze?

Also, I have difficulty sitting without pain. Should I just sit through the pain thinking about the emotional or do my usual shifting, sitting on my leg, etc.? I may not have evolved far enough yet, but while I've been able to make shifts away from some of the neck and shoulder pain through thought shifting, the sitting thing hasn't budged. And I have not been able to let go of thinking about the bulging lumbar MRI as of yet. Thoughts anyone? Thanks.
Cindy

I think I'm there and also not all the way there. It's only been about 10 days, and I'm absolutely scrambling with information, and trying to replace all behaviors! I'm committed tho. Absolutely!

The goal is to realize that those treatments are worthless -- that the only relief is due to the placebo effect.

It doesn't seem as if you are there yet, since you still believe the physical treatment addresses the pain. As long as you believe this you are stunting recovery from TMS.

yes, when you take any kind of pain relief treatment you are reinforcing the idea that the source of your problem is physical. Remember, the brain will go to great efforts to convince you that you have a physical/ structural problem. Just be patient and continue reading Dr Sarno's Psychology and Treatement sections over and over and journaling. These things will take a bit of time but be persistent.
