Posted - 10/13/2005 : 15:55:52 Just curious, what would most people on here (and Sarno) say about people who get flu shots? I keep hearing all about this possible "pandemic" of avian flu from Mongolia, Russia, and that area and how it could spread here. Do you think it's a good idea to give babies flu shots? How about the elderly? Perhaps just those that have weakened immune systems? What do you think? And do you think people should get them at all? Or do you think it's a big waste of time, particularly for TMS sufferers, because it's just one more BS theory that everyone jumps on the band wagon about and does it feed into the false medical stuff that a lot of our stuff falls into? Just wondering what you all think. Let me close by saying I am not judging anyone or anything here, I am just posing the question. Mary |

Posted - 10/19/2005 : 10:25:52 I know this can be a little off topic, but also has merit for practical application and since the subject has already arrised I figured I would share this. I belong to a few biomedical heath boards. And the topic of flu came up; I had just posted a response so figured it may be helpful to share this with you’s as well. It is just related to general heath and well being and good heath practices as it involves the subject of the flu.
If it is the flu, which is like a cold that just takes a little longer to clear. It is airborne could have come from anywhere. Can be one of 1000 dif stains. Treat the same way you would as a cold, plenty of fluids (hydration) anti oxidants (C’s). Proper sleep let the body rest to heal itself. 3 to 5 days should do it. The same way it came in it will come out. . Cleanliness will help rid the virus faster and from spreading through the household. Wash hands often, and keep them away from nose mouth etc…
There are many other natural things you can do as far as reliving symptoms, but I must say that the symptom is a result of the body clearing itself
IMO besides the great mass vaccination campaign that is a big lie, (causes mutation and greater strains) In the past 5-10 years the flues are that much more aggressive and many people are sicker. Bc they are unable to defend themselves and do not care for the flu properly. We live in a society, which doesn’t allow sick people, so we go to the doctor, take medicines and send them off to school and work SICK. If we allowed our bodies to heal at home and were allowed to be sick for 1-3 days than we would not be as sick and altogether sicker as a society. I have found even that this is true, by applying simple principals to practicing better health our family has been less sick than ever before. I used to get bronchitis upper respiratory infections, but at the first sign of sickness fight them off before they develop further into them. Don’t get me wrong as a family it is inevitable that one of us will develop the flu during the worst flu season, and sometimes passes it on. But I will be honest with you this may happen but once a year and everyone no longer gets effected like we used to.
Wishing Good heath to all

How do you know that the very thing you have put off may be what has complicated your underlying condition. I will say again. One of the biggest lies that the medical community has brought to modern man was the mass vaccination campaign. This was also at the same time we brought a bigger contribution to entire medical establishment teaching sterilization and cleanliness. How about vitamin C the entire medical establish let thousands of sailors die denying that such a nutrient was deficient in preventing scurvy. Study history and also study diseases make the connections. We are just so use to reading the brochures that infiltrate the doctors office waiting rooms that say we have stooped plagues and isolated these such diseases and sicknesses. Scare tactics and programming my friend. Who is controlling who?
If you really dig deep you will se that these plagues were NEVER completely wiped out and still exist today. How about the FACT that no immunization that ever was developed actually stops or prevents the disease that is was developed for. How about Polio the developer even admitted that over 70 thousand children were given the very diseases that they were trying to prevent. How about the last 10 years all of these epidemics that don’t exist in other NON DEVELOPED WORLDS. Answer that and it’s not just like whiplash my friend.
Como’n now a fellow TMSer must have already learned to think outside the box. Not trusting the white coats misdiagnosis, continually chasing symptoms and also continue to practice medicine out of the same book that has been dictated by the major drug companies who have all control over the entire industry for over 100 years now.Spend more than 10 minutes in research before making such a conclusion. I spent years; it hurt saying “how can this be true”, from what I had learned to trust since I was a child. History and good science including ALL the medical literature bears witness to this. Ya just need to spend the time. It’s all in there.
Here Search VAERS Database. http://www.medalerts.org/vaersdb/
http://www.medalerts.org/index.html http://vaers.hhs.gov/
This is a Government reporting system. But remember you’re only getting about 5% of the REPORTED cases. And it IS NOT mandatory that they must file reports.
Think about it, look at history and study illnesses, diseases and sicknesses. Also study autoimmune disorders. What has happened, what has changed in the past 50 years a better yet the last 10 years and you will get a picture to where we are going?Look at illnesses such as Parkinson’s MS, Alzheimer’s, ADHD ADD, PDD, AUTISM, Scitzophenia, and Bipolar. Ands ask your self-the question what and when was the first case reported. This will bring many answers to your questions as you continue to GO BACK in time.
Why don’t ya study the history of TMS you will come to pretty much the same conclusions. How did I get it? When did it start? And when was the first diagnosis reported? Not to cause trouble but just making a point Which will bring us back to tour opining statement.
>My goal is not to start a flame war, but to offset information stated here that is at best incomplete and at worst irresponsible. Now back to TMS!
I think when we start taking responsible for our hearth, learn to read our bodies symptoms, and treat our underling conditions, we will then start getting better. Thanks Kenny V

Posted - 10/17/2005 : 19:36:40 This is getting totally off the board's topic, but I have to completely disagree with the above post. Despite recent claims of toxicities, vaccines for polio, diphtheria, measles, etc. have saved many lives and prevented countless disabilities. Even if reports alleging a link between autism and thiomersal-containing vaccines are correct (and the jury is still out), that would still be the case.
Obviously, vaccines should be as safe as possible and ideally would have no potential side effects, but saying that all vaccines are bad and should not be given is throwing out the baby with the bathwater. Look to developing countries like India to see what irrational paranoia about vaccines (namely a fear among some that they are designed by the government to infect children with HIV) gets you--high rates of polio in that nation that would be preventable, and that are keeping the world from achieving the attainable goal of eradicating a devastating pathogen.
My goal is not to start a flame war, but to offset information stated here that is at best incomplete and at worst irresponsible. Now back to TMS! |

Posted - 10/14/2005 : 17:04:25 I've never gotten a flu shot, I guess I'd rather just take my chances with getting the real flu than getting a "weird-sorta-case-of-the-flu" from having the shot.
I've never been keen to any kind of injection, as I usually get a real sore muscle/butt from just the needle, never mind what medication is delivered.
But that's just me, so you should make your own decision.
On the other hand, 20,000 people in the US die from flu each year, mostly from complications (dehydration in many cases).
As fas as TMS goes, I agree with other replies that the flu is a virus (not TMS), and you are going to get sick with it if you get exposed and your resistance is down. The stronger you are heading into flu season the better off you will be even if you do get sick.
Drink a lot of fluids.

If you want to avoid mercury exposure, avoid the flu shot. It is preserved with thimersol, a form of ethyl mercury, a neurotoxin. All multidose shots contain this ingredient as a preservative.
If you are in a high risk group, you need to weigh the risks and benfits of exposure. The flu shot does not provide blanket immunity to all flus, and I have chosen not to get it or give it to my infant son.
There are other ways to build immunity. Fresh food, raw garlic, exercise, sleep, meditation. Frequent handwashing also helps.

Posted - 10/13/2005 : 19:31:19 The typical flu shot has nothing to do (yet) with the avian flu that's overseas, but is to protect against what epidemiologists predict will be the most common virus that is spread in the U.S. This has nothing to do with TMS, but is designed to help the immunity of people that are most likely to get the flu or have serious medical complications from it.
Not everyone needs to get a flu shot. Here are the current recommendations from the Center for Disease Control.
People who should get vaccinated each year are:
1.) People at high risk for complications from the flu:
People 65 years and older; People who live in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities that house those with long-term illnesses; Adults and children 6 months and older with chronic heart or lung conditions, including asthma; Adults and children 6 months and older who needed regular medical care or were in a hospital during the previous year because of a metabolic disease (like diabetes), chronic kidney disease, or weakened immune system (including immune system problems caused by medicines or by infection with human immunodeficiency virus [HIV/AIDS]); Children 6 months to 18 years of age who are on long-term aspirin therapy. (Children given aspirin while they have influenza are at risk of Reye syndrome.); Women who will be pregnant during the influenza season; All children 6 to 23 months of age; People with any condition that can compromise respiratory function or the handling of respiratory secretions (that is, a condition that makes it hard to breathe or swallow, such as brain injury or disease, spinal cord injuries, seizure disorders, or other nerve or muscle disorders.) 2.) People 50 to 64 years of age . Nearly one-third of people 50 to 64 years of age in the United States have one or more medical conditions that place them at increased risk for serious flu complications.
3.) People who can transmit flu to others at high risk for complications . Any person in close contact with someone in a high-risk group (see above) should get vaccinated. This includes all health-care workers, caregivers of children 6 to 23 months of age, and close contacts of people 65 years and older.
Hope this answers your question.

Posted - 10/13/2005 : 19:03:11 I get one every year. Flu is a virus, and while emotional issues may make one more or less susceptible, I figure a shot is cheap insurance against a miserable week out of work. By the way, it seems the regular flu shot does not protect against this avian flu.
