Posted - 09/29/2005 : 09:50:47 Hi all,
I'm trying to find out how to locate a TMS-friendly psychotherapist in the Chicago area. I have a specific phobic disorder that manifests itself as a locking up of the sphincter muscles so that urination becomes impossible in any situation that activates the phobia. The most successful treatment program is cognitive-behavioral, i.e. desensitization. Sarno has said via email that it is TMS, but I'd like to try to combine active CB work with TMS-related work. Sarno's approach has worked wonders for some of my other chronic symptoms, but this one, which is very profound and life-disrupting, just doesn't budge. Since the price you pay for letting it go on is damage to both your social life and, more importantly, your bladder (which is irrepararble), I can't just wait around for the TMS cure to work. Anyway, any thoughts about a) finding a theraptist and b) combining TMS treatment with CB?
Thanks! |

Posted - 09/29/2005 : 18:55:29 There is an psychotherapist in LA who Dr. David Schechter refers his TMS patients to. His name is Don Dubin. He also does phone consultations and has TMS clients all over the world whom he talks with on the phone. He had TMS himself and has fully recovered. He has a high success rate with his clients. He can be reached at: 323 651 4390.
He is not cheap though. The cost is $125 per session.
It is not uncommon for psychotherapist to do their consultations by phone. |
