Posted - 09/12/2005 : 08:06:15 Do not attribute your anxiety to the back pain. It is circular reasoning.
Many with TMS claim that the primary source of their rage are the symptoms. It is important to understand that the symptoms are the result and not the cause.
The key is to accept that the back pain comes from the repressed rage. The anxiety, too. You must try your best to ignore the pain and focus on your emotions. |

I have both anti-anxiety medication and pain killers. In my case, the pain was causing more anxiety than usual - taking a benzo removed the anxiety, but I still had the pain. I found taking the pain killer during especially painful episodes alleviated the pain big time, thus calming me down.
But for some people, if their anxiety started painful flareups, maybe simply taking something to calm down would relax the muscles enough to ease the pain. YMMV. |
