Can someone please tell me the name of his book(s) and where I can find them. I can't seem to locate him on Amazon.

Thanks,

Gaye

Dr. Sarno really dislikes this workbook. He said that it is too confining and does not allow for free thought - too restrictive. It did not help me to uncover reasons for my TMS.

I'm doing the workbook right now.....I'm on Day 5. When I first received the book in the mail and looked thru it, I thought it wasn't going to be helpful. I figured I could accomplish the same result by journaling on my own. HOWEVER, after a few days now, I realize that, for me, having a structured workbook is very helpful. On those days I sit down to write and I'm a blank, the questions give me a base to start from.

I'm sure the usefulness is different for everyone, but for me, I'm finding it to be a helpful tool.

I found this book very helpful, and did it twice five years ago. I haven't used any other products. I was looking through my workbook the other day and realized how it helped me look much more clearly at my emotional life. A bargain at $18, my further work conitinued with Freedom From Fibromyalgia about two years later.

All,

Does anybody have any opinions on
The MindBody Workbook by Dr. Schechter? Seems like it might just be about "journaling", which I could probably do on my own. Or is it worth the $18? Or are some of his other products better? Thanks!

Cool, thanks for the reply! It's always nice to know what works for somebody else even though it may or may not work for me.

I personally did not find his workbook helpful but can only speak for myself. I think regular journaling - concentrating on past traumas, current stressors and personality traits and how you unconscious mind may be responding to these- would be just as effective. Others, however, may find his workbook helpful. His set of 3 cds are very good, especially is dialogue with Don Dubin, a psycho-therapist who works with Dr. Schechter. Some very good insights and worth the investment.

I'd like to know the answer to that too-if the DVD is worth it. I just found this forum (first post!) and am so thankful. I've had pain in the back and shoulders for some time now and think it's TMS but haven't been diagnosed as such by any doctors. It's laughable to think I could fine one in my area I can only imagine that there are very few in the nation. So I still have some checking to do to see what has worked for other people and I won't ask that on this thread until I do some searching through the rest of the forum threads.

There's also one package with a DVD and the workbook. Anybody seen the DVD? Is it worth the extra money?

Cool, I ordered it. It's good to know what actually (might have) worked for others. Thanks much!

It's hard to pinpoint/differentiate which effort brought about the good results regarding my long-term sciatica because I was doing the Face The Fire thing and acting upon all the Sarno recommendations and following Claire Weeks advise on anxiety and compulsiveness - all at the same time. In my gut, however, I feel that the workbook had some role in my 85% recovery from pain, so I advise you to go with it.

Fox, that would make sense. Did it help with the pain or was it more of an indirect help?

I did the workbook thing a while back, but I remember it really helped me to explore how past events may have generated within me a deep reserve of anger and fear.

Dr. Schechter has a book called "The Mindbody Workbook." I believe that is the one you are thinking of.
