I get TMJ when I play hockey without a mouth piece. Once I started wearing one it went away. It was from anxiety.
I also have a "herniated disc" but when I saw Dr. Sarno he said the pain I have is not from that it is TMS

Thanks
You know I'm not a pain person really. But several months ago I had out of town company I was stressing about and when they left I began with the jaw pain- then it went to the neck - my doc did an MRI an found a herniated disc (which may have been there a long time), but I have been wondering why I'm holding on to this jaw pain, since my jaw joints don't crack, I don't clench, etc. The only medical condition I have is MS and for the most part do well with that. I will get the books and start reading, because I do believe I have some need to have this pain. Thanks. Glad I found this site.

LuvtoSew,

Dave's right. You need to read The Mindbody Prescription and/or Healing Back Pain. You will get answers to most of your questions and you will be amazed at what an eye opener it will be.

TMJ is a symptom of TMS, just like the pain.

It may or may not be caused by nighttime teeth grinding, which itself is a symptom of anxiety, which is also a TMS equivalent.

The book explains it all...

TMJ is a symptom, A symptom of what?

Read Dr. Sarno's book. Herniated discs do not cause pain in the vast majority of cases. TMJ is a symptom.
