Posted - 07/07/2005 : 08:44:29 I think one thing that is important is to accept yourself for who and what you are.
I am now -in my daily mental work - applying the following three principles. All day long, as emotions or symptoms arise, I apply them. They can be used in any number of circumstances:
1) Acknowledgement - I acknowledge that I have this or that emotion, feeling, attitude or personality trait.
2) Acceptance - I accept- in a loving and non-judgemental manner- that I have this or that emotion, feeling, attitude or personality trait. I do not berate myself but just accept what is and love myself for feeling or being that way.
3) Letting it go - What I mean here is that I tell my inner-self - again in loving and non-judgemental way - that although I acknowledge and accept that I have this or that emotion, feeling, attitude or personality trait, that I will not allow it to impact on me physically. I tell my inner self / brain that there is no need for the pain to act as a distraction and that I will deal with these issues in my own way. Sometimes, like a loving parent, I have to be a bit forceful with myself, but it is always done with love and compassion.
The point here is to love what is, accept who you are, do not berate yourself, but just work with your inner-self and listen to those inner promptings - which want to be both heard and acknowledged - in a loving and non-judemental way. |
